'Fast and Furious 8' Release Date, Cast News: Jason Statham, Cara Delevingne to Join?

After the box-office success of "Furious 7," only a few months passed before the studio behind the film announced that they are definitely making a sequel, "Fast & Furious 8." This is despite the death of one of the film franchise's big stars, Paul Walker, who passed away in a car accident before "Furious 7" was finished.

With a release date set for April 14, 2017, speculations about the sequel's plot and its cast have been circulating. Recent rumors place the return of one of the film's villains, Deckard Shaw, a role played by Jason Statham. According to a report in EnStarz, Statham was said to have revealed this when he was discussing his schedule with another entertainment website, when he included in his schedule a mention of "Fast & Furious 8."

"There's 'Fast 8,' they want to do another one," he reportedly said. The report also cited that there is also a rumor that his character may be joining the good guys in the coming film.

Another report on EnStarz also mentioned that Cara Delevingne who recently appeared in "Paper Towns," may be being considered to join the cast. Delevingne could be a great addition to the Toretto family, especially since one of its female members, Mia, may possibly be out of the picture. The report also cited that Delevingne would also be an interesting villain.

Vin Diesel, according to the EnStarz report, may have also hinted on where the next film will be set. Through the actor's Instagram page, he shared what seemed like a poster for the film, indicating that the Big Apple, New York City, will where it will be shot. In an earlier appearance in the Jimmy Kimmel show, Vin Diesel also said that he and his crew will take their mission to the streets of New York City.
