4. Yamaha
After nearly half a century, Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd is leaving Southern California.
The Tokyo-based manufacturer — which makes everything from motorcycles to boats to industrial robots — announced in February that it will relocate its U.S. subsidiary from Cypress, California, to Kennesaw, Georgia.
The move is expected to begin by the end of 2026 and continue through the end of 2028.
According to a company press release, Yamaha will also sell “all fixed assets” located in Cypress, including land, warehouses and office space.
The company said the move is aimed at “undertaking structural reforms aimed at improving the profitability of its U.S. operations in response to cost increases resulting from U.S. tariffs and changes in the market environment.”
Yamaha Motor Co. first acquired the land in 1978 and established its office the following year.
