The daughter of Le Roy Carhart announced the news of her father’s passing in a Facebook post on Friday, thanking friends for their support and asking for privacy during this time of mourning.
“Lee had a very simple belief that patients know what is best for their life plan and was there to support them,” Weatherby wrote. “He founded his first clinic specializing in abortion in 1992 with a mission to provide abortion care in a compassionate, comfortable, and personal environment. He and his staff cared for all patients with kindness, love, justice, and respect.”

The late-term abortionist’s daughter said the staff and doctors at her father’s abortion facilities in Maryland and Nebraska will continue operating both CARE clinic locations.
