5 reactions to death of late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart

Kristan Hawkins

The president of Students for Life of America, Kristan Hawkins, doesn't believe it was a coincidence that Carhart died on the feast of St. Gianna Beretta Molla, the patron saint of preborn babies.

“I pray for his soul as he’s now met his Maker who also fearfully and wonderfully made the preborn children Dr. Carhart spent his life dismembering,” the pro-life leader told CP in a Monday statement.

“As the pro-life movement, we are grateful that Carhart was given the respect and dignity to die a natural death, something he did not afford to tens of thousands of children,” she continued.

The SFLA president expressed sadness at the knowledge that Carhart’s grandson, Leroy “Lee” Carhart IV, is carrying on his grandfather’s “bloody legacy.” As The Pueblo Chieftain reported in December 2022, the grandson of the notorious late-term abortionist opened the doors of his Clinics for Abortions and Reproductive Excellence (CARE) facility in Pueblo. The clinic opened its doors before the city council tabled an ordinance that would have banned abortion within the city limits.

“Students for Life of America fought for years to expose Carhart’s medical misdeeds against vulnerable women and the preborn, and we will continue to fight against abortion extremism and those who commit these horrific acts,” Hawkins stated.

In December 2022, the blog page for Students for Life Action reported that a threatening note had been left on the door of the St. John Paul II Newman Center. The location is where the group planned to host a Nebraska Political Leadership Workshop to strategize about how to shut down Carhart’s facility in the state and advocate for the passage of a Sanctuary City ordinance to ban abortions in Bellevue.

“If our right to abortion in Bellevue is taken away due to the attempt to pass an abortion ban and it gets passed we will shoot up your Newman center with our new AR14 rifles,” the note read.
