Blake Shelton ACM Awards Duet With Lionel Richie (VIDEO)

Blake Shelton ended the Academy of Country Music Awards in a duet with Lionel Richie. While the pair seemed unlikely, they were not the only odd couple to perform for the 2012 country music awards.

While it may have been apparent to Lionel Richie at some point that it was strange for two men to get on stage and sing a love ballad, the thought did not distract his performance Sunday night. The performance is not the first for the two, who will both appear in "Lionel Richie and Friends in Concert," which begins taping next Monday on CBS.

Before the duet, Shelton was recognized as Male Vocalist of the Year. His wife, Miranda Lambert, also won Female Vocalist of the Year in addition to Album of the year. Lambert expressed shock at the award.

"Seriously? I'm so thrilled. I will never take this trophy for granted. My albums are my babies. It's what makes me wake up in the mornings." Miranda said while retrieving her award. "I really am so humbled; I don't know what to say."

"Thank you, Jesus, for giving me this gift I can share will all my fans," she added.

Other strange duets included Ashton Kutcher singing alongside George Straight and Toby Keith joining in on a duet with the infamous "Carrot Top." Taylor Swift became the second female to win "Entertainer of the Year" for two years, matched only by Carrie Underwood.

While accepting his award, Shelton at first appeared speechless and then decided to quote a Dierks Bentley's song.

"Home," he said. "It's been a long hard ride, and got a ways to go, and that's still how I feel man, but I'm proud to take this home tonight."

Even Kelly Clarkson, who is more famous for her pop music, was honored with two awards: Vocal Event of the Year and Single Record of the Year for the song, "Don't You Wanna Stay."

"Thank you so much for welcoming me from the pop world," Clarkson said.
