'Fortnite' 100-Player Battle Royale Mode Coming on Sep. 26, Now Available in Public Test Servers
"Fortnite," the base-building zombie survival game from Epic Games, is about to pit its players against swarms of their peers. The development team has released patch 1.6, and with it, a new Battle Royale PvP mode that can carry 100 players.
For a game that rewards teamwork and cooperative base-building, the new game mode turns that notion on its head as up to a hundred players scheme and build to be the last one standing on a giant map.
The development team of "Fortnite" has just released their Public Test version of the new Battle Royale PvP mode, a 100-player free-for-all mayhem set to come officially to the game on Sep. 26. This new mode comes with their version 1.6 update, which also fixes some of the crashes that players have been encountering.

The new patch also evens out the field with a few balance changes. A players' Code of Conduct, mostly intended for the Battle Royale mode, has also been included in the patch.
This set of guidelines has four main points, foremost of which is "Respect other players." Contenders are encouraged to be civil and exercise sportsmanship, and undesirable behavior like "Discriminatory language, hate speech, threats, spam, and other forms of harassment or illegal behavior" will not be tolerated by server administrators.
The Battle Royale mode adds a lot of changes to the game that co-op players will have to get used to. First, players don't get to carry over their regular characters to the new gameplay mode as they will be assigned a random appearance instead.
Respawns are turned off while the match is going on, and players that are caught outside the ever-shrinking "Eye of the Storm" suffers ongoing damage, much like how it works in "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds."
Weapons can now do damage to buildings, but players can only carry five weapons or consumables at once. Crouching has also been added to the game, as well as increased damage from falling. Building resources, ammo, and traps can now also be carried in unlimited quantities while in Battle Royale.
The video below announces the new Battle Royale PvP mode, now available in "Fortnite." The game is also now on sale, with a 25 percent discount for the Standard and Deluxe Edition Founder's Packs, good for one week. The promo runs from Tuesday, Sep. 12, to until Monday, Sep. 18.
