Fresh Lava Flowing From Hawaii's Kilauea Volcano (VIDEO)
A volcano has been spewing lava since Wednesday and has forced the closure of some roads in Kilauea, Hawaii.
Scientists with the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory at the U.S. Geological Survey say the Kilauea volcano's crater collapsed Wednesday after it previously collapsed in March.
The crater, termed Puu Oo, created a lava flow that split into two directions and forced the closure of some roads near the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
The flow caused the Puu Oo crater to fall about 260-280 feet. The crater was considered "extremely unstable with continued collapses along the crater walls sending blocks of rock onto the crater floor," the observatory said Friday.
No injuries or property damage have been reported.
Kilauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes, has been constantly erupting since 1983.
The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is home to two of the world's most active volcanoes, and allows visitors dramatic views of the volcanic landscapes.
Video footage of the latest burst of lava was posted online.
