Gionee S6 Release Date & Specs: Features Slim Metal Body, 5.5-Inch Display, MediaTek Processor, 3 GB of RAM

Gionee is set to add another device into their slim mid-range smartphone line soon. According to GSM Arena, the Shenzhen-based mobile phone manufacturer has already announced their new high-end smartphone known as the S6.

The Gionee S6 is revealed to be a sleek device with a metal body and thin bezels on the side. Phone Arena detailed that it is measured to be only 6.99mm thick and is mostly made out of aluminum, a deviation from the usual component of the previous S-series devices which carried a glass back.

The device weighs 147 grams only and sports a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. Under its hood is a MediaTek 1.3GHz MT6753 octa-core processor coupled with Mali T-720 GPU and 3 GB of RAM. It has an internal storage capacity of 32 GB which is expandable via microSD card slot.

It will run with the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system topped with Gionee's AMIGO OS 3.1. There is also a hybrid second SIM slot available which allows users to choose between using two SIM cards or one SIM card and one microSD card.

The S6 is noted by BGR to be equipped with a 13-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB Type-C connector and 4G LTE. It has a battery capacity of 3150mAh.

According to Softpedia, the smartphone is now available for pre-order in China. It will cost CNY 1699 ($265) which is already considered to be a real steal because of the hardware configuration of the device.

It will only be available through the Chinese online retailers though so those who are interested but lives outside China will have to transact business online. Most of the retailers offer free shipping worldwide.

Pre-orders have already started but the Gionee S6 will not go on sale until Nov. 22.
