Samsung is expected to unveil its Google Nexus Prime smartphone at its “Mobile Unpacked Event” next week.
The device has stirred up quite a buzz after the company released a teaser trailer following Apple’s announcement for the upcoming iPhone 4S.
But judging from a still taken from the trailer by Google+ user Joe Lancaster, is it possible that the Google Nexus Prime is both a smartphone and a tablet?
Judging from the image pulled from the teaser, the device is displayed from a side angle in which it appears to resemble both a smartphone and a tablet, according to Lancaster.
He highlights parts of the picture outlining wings on the smartphone which according to him, could mean the Google Nexus Prime is a combination device.
Lancaster could be taking Samsung’s “something big is coming” and “perfect combination” slogans the wrong way.
The “perfect combination” is probably related to Samsung’s partnership with Google rather than a tablet and smartphone in one.
“Something big is coming” is most likely related to the smartphone’s size, not the fact that it is also moonlighting as a tablet.
Other evidence for the smartphone also being a tablet could be the three gold pin connectors visible in the video and image that some have speculated could be connected to a new landscape docking system.
There is a possibility of the Google Nexus Prime smartphone docking into a power tablet or laptop like accessory.
The Asus Padfone currently has a feature that allows users to do this.
Samsung will debut the Google Nexus Prime on October 11 at the “Mobile Unpacked Event.”
What the device will do and be like will all be revealed then.
This lethal tablet/smartphone combination is just speculation at this point.
