Google Nexus Prime Release Date: Pictures Leaked (PHOTO)

The Nexus Prime has been spotted by tech site GSMArena who has allegedly nabbed the first shots of the upcoming device.

With Apple disappointing many with its announcement of the iPhone 4S, smartphone users are looking to the next big handset release and the Nexus seems like the likely candidate.

GSMArena captured the first live photo of the device which confirms that it will sport a SuperAMOLED display with a 720p HD resolution.

The screen included on the Nexus Prime is 4.6-inches.

Also the visible pixel density in the picture is at 320 ppi which outdoes most other smartphones.

Although a pixel resolution of 1184x720 appears on the system info, the Nexus Prime will most likely come with a 1280x720 pixels screen.

“We’re not sure if the Samsung Nexus Prime display will be using the PenTile matrix, but we can bet that at this pixel density even the most eagle- eyed users won’t be able to tell the difference,” wrote GSMarena. “Just look at the shot, those letters look like printed on paper.”

The device’s display seems quite impressive rivaling other popular smartphones such as the iPhone 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Apple debuted its iPhone 4S yesterday at its “Let’s Talk iPhone” media event, a move that was disappointing to some since they were expecting a new iPhone 5.

The Nexus Prime seems to sport the large screen that the rumored iPhone 5 was supposed to include.

Screen size has been a major factor lately when consumers decide on which smartphone they will purchase.

Samsung is holding its own media event next week where the company will reveal the details on the upcoming Nexus Prime.

Could it be another iPhone killer?

It will be the first Android device running Google’s newest Ice Cream Sandwich software which could show up Apple’s iOS 5.
