He's In Control, Even When It Doesn't Look Like It!

Daniel 2:21 NIV

"He changes times and seasons;
He sets up kings and deposes them,
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning."

Sometimes it's hard to understand what's going on around us. If God's in control, why do evil people prosper? If God's in control, why do Godly people fail, lose everything, or even die young? Does God really care what's going on in the world? Why does He allow the bad people to have so many good things and good people to suffer so much?

It's difficult for us to understand God's eternal purpose in everything that we see happening around us. but we can know this. everything that happens on this earth is under His control. everything. Like Daniel says, "He changes times and seasons; He sets up kings and deposes them." Every person who becomes wealthy and powerful is allowed to do so by God. for His eternal purpose. Every government that is established is allowed to be established by God. for His eternal purpose. Every person who is elected to office in the United States is allowed to be elected to that office by God. for His eternal purpose. Why would He allow someone evil to get rich or gain power or establish a dictatorship or be elected to a powerful office? Sometimes we can know and sometimes we can't.

Just keep this in mind whenever you see evil people succeeding and good people failing: God has a plan. His plan is eternal in purpose. He is in control of everything and is much wiser than you or I can ever conceive of being. And sometimes, every once-in-a-while, He lets us see a little portion of that plan . He allows us to understand some of His thinking. Commit yourself to serve Him, no matter what He allows in your life. Hope not in the world but in the grace and eternal purpose of God through Christ Jesus.

"Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:1-4 NIV
