iPad Mini 2 Price Discounted by $50 Through Retailer, Find Out Where

The iPad mini 2 with retina display has been discounted by $50 for those purchasing the device through Best Buy.

The deal is available on all versions of the iPad mini with retina until Feb. 16. It is rare to see discounts on the iPad so those who want to pick up the device for a good price should act fast.

Apple first unveiled the new retina display packing model at its official iPad event that took place in the fall of last year.

The device comes equipped with a 7.9-inch retina display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 which matches up to the screen found on the full-sized retina iPad. The new version is slightly thicker than the original mini and measures in at 7.5mm thick at .73 pounds. The iPad mini was 7.2mm and weighed .68 pounds.

The mini also features a 64-bit A7 processor, M7 motion co-processor, an upgraded 5-megapixel rear iSight camera with backside illumination sensor and 1080pHD video capability.

The front of the tablet features a new FaceTime HD camera with larger pixels that is accompanied by dual microphones. It also comes with multiple-input and multiple-output technology that offers up to 2x faster Wi-Fi with 802.11a/b/g/m Wi-Fi and LTE cellular models that are available with up to 10 hours of battery life.

Apple offers this 2nd-generation model with 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB of memory. It comes in two different color schemes including silver/white and space grey/black. This version is 43 percent thinner than the previous version. It's exactly 7.5mm thin. The 4th gen model was 9.4mm thick.

Apple is expected to release the 3rd generation model sometime later this year along with a new full-sized iPad and 12-inch iPad Pro.
