The packaging is black and gold, and also available is body lotion and shower gel, which also feature the fragrance notes.

Gaga's scent is said to be outselling singers Beyonce's and Madonna's individual perfumes and Superdrug beauty director, Sara Wolverson, explained why the Grammy award-winning singer's perfume is in so much demand.

"Lady Gaga is a true original and she has brought something completely new to the fragrance market. While initial reports promised slightly scary fragrance notes the actual perfume is sophisticated, floral, addictive, moreish and sexy which paired with the black liquid and dramatic styling is truly original," Wolverson told Mail Online.

"We knew Lady Gaga would be popular but have been astounded by the rush to be the first to buy the fragrance," she added.

Buyers of Gaga's perfume recently shared mixed views on the fragrance via social networking site Twitter.

"Tried the Lady Gaga perfume. At first it smells like parma violets but then it smells like an old prostitute. My mum is not a fan," Jonathan Lasham tweeted.

"I love the new lady gaga perfume. I dont even care that I spent a small fortune on it. It smells amazing," rachael bresnan tweeted.
