LG G4 Release Date, Specs, Price and Features Review: LG G4 Mobile is Unveiled

LG has unveiled its latest flagship phone, the LG G4, in simultaneous events in different cities around the world on April 28. The phone is the successor of the LG G3 and is being unveiled amidst stiff competition such as the new Samsung Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6.

Calling the phone "the most ambitious smartphone yet," the LG G4 boasts of a removable back leather cover, which comes in several colors, or a textured ceramic back cover. The cover is removable so that one can access the removable battery and a microSD slot. According to a PC Advisor report, this feature is what most of the new smartphones have done away with. For users who prefer a removable battery and a memory expansion slot, this may be a good choice.

It only comes with 32GB storage option, which is expandable. It's slightly heavier than the LG G3, weighing at 155 grams. It's also thicker at the top end, and is wider and taller than its predecessor, measuring at 76 mm by 149.9 mm.

Its 5.5in screen has a display has the same resolution as the G3, at 1440 by 2560 but according to the official specs, this new panel is what the firm calls an IPS Quantum Display which is "thinner and has improvements such as brightness, color gamut, contrast ratio and energy efficiency."

The unveiling finally revealed the processor of the LG G4, which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808, with six cores: dual-core ARM Cortex A57 and quad-core A53 with 64-bit support. The phone's graphical processing unit enables it to support 3D gaming on 4K displays, which is an Adreno 418 GPU.

The rear camera improved with a 16MP one, compared to the previous 13MP. The front camera is now 8MP, compared to the previous 2.1MP only. Out of the box, the phone comes with the Android 5.1 update already.

As reported in IGN, buyers in South Korea may buy the phone starting April 29. UK buyers may get the phone starting May 28. In the US, T-Mobile is offering users to "take it for a spin" starting May 25. The plastic backed variant is priced at $650 while the leather one is priced at $700.
