2. Claims he was raised Christian but 'grew out of it'

Pastors Cliffe Knechtle and Stuart Knechtle answered questions from Logan Paul about Christianity during episode 417 of the "IMPAULSIVE" podcast, which aired in May 2024.

During the episode, Paul shared that his mother was a Christian, and although he was raised to be one, he eventually “grew out of it and just became a little bit more curious about the world.”

The YouTube personality then asked the pastors about what denomination of Christianity they subscribe to and how they arrived there.

Cliffe Knechtle is the senior pastor of Grace Community Church in New Canaan, Connecticut, and his son, Stuart Knechtle, is the assistant pastor. The church is interdenominational and is known for functioning independently of any single traditional denomination.

“We’re more concerned about how have you responded to Jesus Christ, not how have you responded to organized religion,” Cliffe Knechtle said during the interview.

Paul admitted that he has always struggled with the “proof” for Christianity, saying he hasn’t had a “come-to-Jesus” moment as described by those who have. The influencer also asked the pastors why he should believe the Christian faith is true when other beliefs exist.

Cliffe Knechtle highlighted the historical evidence for Jesus and His “sinless life,” as well as His “amazing ethical teachings,” such as the Sermon on the Mount.

The senior pastor also pointed to Jesus’ willingness to forgive His enemies for His death, adding: “Most importantly, three days after he dies, he physically, bodily rises from the dead, and over a period of 40 days, he appears to over 500 people who see him different times, different places, risen from the dead.”

Paul pressed the senior pastor on his answer, asking, “How do you know that?”

“You know that in the same way that you know that George Washington was the first president of the United States, that you know that Adolf Hitler really committed the atrocities he did, it's called historical knowledge,” Cliffe Knechtle replied.

He also noted that the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John provide a “reliable historical record” based on over 5,800 Greek manuscripts, 10,000 manuscripts in the Latin Vulgate and other various records.
