Miracles Performed by 8-Year-Old Girl: 'Little Missionary' Alani Santos Heals People of HIV, Cancer, Say Testimonies (VIDEO)

Miracles are being performed by a an 8-year-old Brazilian girl in the favelas of San Gonzalo, according to reports. Alani Santos channels the power of Jesus Christ to cure HIV, cancer and arthritis, the parishioners in her father's church claim.

Alani Santos' healing miracles take place at the church of her father, Pastor Aduato Santos, who was a former car thief. He has dubbed her missionarinha, or "little missionary," for her preaching and commitment to healing the sick.

"To see God working through people and their lives, that is very pleasing," she told Vocativ. "A lot of the time I touch people, sometimes I just pray and worship and the person is cured."

However, Pastor Santos makes it clear that it isn't by Alani's own power that she is healing people— it is God's power that makes the miracles possible.

"She's a normal kid— apart from this gift. It is Jesus who cures. She is an instrument," he told The Guardian.

Twice a week the San Gonzalo church is filled with parishioners looking to be healed. A video shows the praise and worship music, preaching by Alani and her father, and the touch that often makes worshipers collapse or burst into tears. At one point, the congregation testifies that they have seen people healed of HIV/AIDS and cancer in the past. The church asks for offering at the end of the service.

Pentecostal Christianity, in which congregations espouse speaking in tongues, prophesying and other spiritual gifts, has been spreading among countries like Brazil. Pastor Santos has taken advantage of that and his daughter's fame by creating a website that sells T-shirts, DVDs, posters, advertises tour dates, allows people to contact Alani on Skype and encourages everyone to pray for her.

The pastor also interviews those who have been healed by his daughter, which she says is one of the most emotional parts of the ministry.

"When I pray and God performs miracles, my dad interviews people and they say they've been cured," Alani told Vocativ. "That's very pleasing to see."

Alani said that when she grows up, she wants to be a doctor to keep helping the sick.
