Ndamukong Suh Ejected: Suh Suffers Consequences For Dirty Play

The NFL has suspended Detroit Lions’ defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh, after he was ejected from the Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers.

The network released a statement about their plans for Suh.

"NFL Vice President of Football Operations Merton Hanks notified Ndamukong Suh today that he has been suspended without pay for the Lions' next two games for his unsportsmanlike conduct in the Lions-Packers game on Thanksgiving Day,” the statement read.

In what some referred to as a dirty play, Suh and Evan Dietrich-Smith, Green Bay Packers’ center, were briefly wrestling on the ground in the third quarter before the Lions’ DT took it to another level.

The aggressive Detroit DT was then seen stomping on Dietrich-Smith's arm and shoving his head in the ground before being ejected. Instead of leaving the game quietly, Suh proceeded to argue with the referee who had thrown him out of the game.

Although Suh was reluctant to take full responsibility after he was ejected, the Lion said he has since reflected. The Lions’ DT took to his Facebook page to express regret for his actions.

"I have had time to reflect on yesterday's game and I want to sincerely apologize for letting my teammates down, the organization, and especially to my fans who look to me for positive inspiration,” Suh said. "Playing professional sports is not a game. It is a profession with great responsibility, and where performance on and off the field should never be compromised.”

However, the NFL noted that Suh was fined in the past for what some have called his dirty playing tactics.

"It was Suh's fifth violation of on-field rules in the past two seasons that has resulted in league discipline. Suh may not practice or be at the team practice facility for any other activities during the two-game suspension,” the NFL statement read. “He will be reinstated on December 12. Under the CBA, the suspension may be appealed within three business days.”
