Nokia 7 Specs, News: Mid-Range Smartphone With Hefty RAM and Camera Specs

HMD Global, the company licensed to make new Nokia smartphones, has recently announced another product for this year -- the Nokia 7. While the handset is marketed as a mid-range mobile device, it is packed with some promising specifications, especially with its memory and camera.

According to HMD Global's statement on the Nokia 7, customers will have the option to purchase the device with either a 4 GB or a 6 GB random access memory -- technical specs that are mostly seen on premium handsets from other manufacturers.

Meanwhile, the Nokia 7's standard internal storage space is 64 GB with a microSD slot that can support up to 128 GB of added memory -- another unique feature for a so-called mid-range device.

HMD Global also went all in for Nokia 7's camera. Aside from being supported by the ZEISS optics technology and with 16-megapixel resolution -- it is also equipped with the company's "Bothie" feature that was first introduced in its flagship device, the Nokia 8.

As the name suggested, the Bothie feature allows the device to capture images from the front and rear cameras at the same time. The images will then be processed to become a single photo.

Meanwhile, HMD Global also assured customers that the Nokia 7's cameras were designed to be "highly sensitive and deliver outstanding images in all conditions – even low light." The Nokia 7's rear snapper can also capture videos in 4K resolution at 30 frames-per-second.

As for its other specifications, the Nokia 7 sports a 5.2-inch screen and a body clad in 7000 series aluminium "with diamond cut bevelled edges." It also joined the all-glass trend as its front and rear sides were both protected with a type of Corning Gorilla glass.

In terms of battery life, a 3,000-milliampere hour pack also sounds sufficient. Despite having beyond ample specs and features, customers will be reminded that the Nokia 7 is just a mid-range device as it is powered with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630 chip.

Like HMD Global's strategy in some of their earlier released smartphones this year, the Nokia 7 will have its first market launch exclusively in China. However, reports believe that it is also likely going to launch worldwide.

For the above-mentioned specs, the Nokia 7 is a fairly competitive device with half the price of its more superior brother, the Nokia 8. The Nokia 7 will be priced 2,499 yuan or around $375 once it comes out on Oct. 24 in China.
