Days before Easter Sunday, a major fire struck France's iconic Notre Dame Cathedral, eliciting shock and sadness from people throughout the world.

The fire raged for several hours, resulting in severe damage that included the collapse of the spire and the destruction of its roof.

In addition to the outpouring of condolences on social media, the conflagration at Notre Dame generated a great deal of responses to aid both immediately and long term.
