Soon after the fire was put out, many, including wealthy families of France, pledged large donations to the cathedral's rebuilding effort.

Within a couple of days, an estimated $700 million was donated. One of the donors was Bernard Arnault, head of the LVMH Group, which owns luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Givenchy.

“The Arnault family and the LVMH Group, in solidarity with this national tragedy, are committed to assist with the reconstruction of this extraordinary cathedral, symbol of France, its heritage and its unity,” stated the company.

“They will donate a total sum of 200 million euros to the fund dedicated to the reconstruction of this architectural work, which is a core part of the French history.”

As of late April, between $835 million to $1 billion have been pledged for the reconstruction project, according to The Washington Post.
