Osama bin Laden's Body Not Buried at Sea?

Osama Bin Laden's body was not buried at sea, according to Stratfor company emails exposed by the infamous WikiLeaks, an organization dedicated to revealing classified information.

Instead of being unattainably sunk beneath the waves, Osama bin Laden's body was "bound for Dover, [Delaware] on [a] CIA plane," then "onward to the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Bethesda, [Maryland]," according to an email written by Fred Burton, Stratfor's vice president of intelligence.

Burton goes on to compare the death and subsequent disposal of bin Laden to that of Adolph Eichmann, a Nazi lieutenant colonel and a major organizer of the Holocaust in Hitler's Germany.

"If body dumped at sea, which I doubt, the touch is very Adolph Eichman like. The Tribe did the same thing with the Nazi's ashes," wrote Burton in a separate leaked email.

After the war, he fled to Argentina, but was captured by Mossad agents, tried in Israel, hanged for his crimes in 1962. His cremated ashes were spread in the Mediterranean Sea.

Eichmann's disposal- done so he could never be memorialized or associated with any country- was similar to bin Laden's. However, Stratfor CEO George Friedman pointed out that there was never any speculation about what happened to Eichmann, unlike the controversy surrounding bin Laden.

"Eichmann was seen alive for many months on trial before being sentenced to death and executed. No one wanted a monument to him so they cremated him. … No comparison with suddenly burying him at sea without any chance to view him which i doubt happened," replied Friedman.

Despite the controversy surrounding a lack of photographic evidence of bin Laden's death, the White House maintains that the world's most dangerous terrorist was killed in Abbottabad, Pakistan, May 2, 2011, then buried at sea with a proper Muslim ceremony.

Though the emails do come from Stratfor, a widely recognized intelligence agency, critics of the theory pointed out that the "shadow CIA" relies on tips from government and company insiders for their information- sources just as subject to gossip and rumors as anywhere else.

"This was a leak from a gossipy analysis done by Stratfor which is not a US Government entity but is a private seller of rumors," wrote traditionalguy on the Althouse blog.

Another user, Dan in Philly, agreed, saying he "[doubts] this rumor."

"Of course, the whole thing is a poor job of controlling the narrative from the start by the current administration," wrote Dan.

The White House has not responded to the rumors.
