'Outlander' Season 2 Casting News, Update: Actor Laurence Dobiesz Cast as Jack Randall's Brother

Fans of the hit TV drama series from Starz, "Outlander," will likely see more of Black Jack Randall's (Tobias Menzies) influence in the show's upcoming second season. His younger brother's role has also recently been casted.

A report from TV Line said that actor Laurence Dobiesz will portray Alex Randall, a "gentle, loving and kind" version of his older brother. In the series, he serves as a curate and secretary for the Duke of Sandringham, a character introduced back in Season 1, played by Simon Callow.

The younger Randall's storyline is expected to overlap with Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and the new character Mary Hawkins' (Rosie Day) arc.

Dobiesz's previous small screen credits include BBC's "All The King's Men" and Masterpiece Theatre's "Great Expectations."

The new season of the TV adaptation to Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" novel series will find Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire getting heavily involved in the chaotic political turmoil in Paris, France.

"They're going to Paris, and they're going to be dealing with the French aristocracy. So you're already in a completely different planet than where we were with Season 1. Scotland is about heavy stone, rough wood, dark tabletops, smoke and candlelit rooms, and now you're in world of gilt, fine China, glassware and costumes that are made of silks and bright colors," executive producer Ronald Moore told TV Line.

"It's going to be a whole different tone, a whole different … playing the story as much more political. We're dealing with the Jacobite Rebellion. It's much more about deception, and lies within lies, and the gossips and the surroundings of Paris," the showrunner went on to say.

"Outlander" Season 2 is slated to return to Starz in 2016.
