The influential megachurch Life.Church will start a new sermon series this weekend that focuses on the messages behind Americans' favorite blockbuster movies.

"Average movies entertain us. The best ones inspire us. So what can movies tell us about our own lives? Plenty! Grab some popcorn and find a seat — At the Movies premieres July 9-10, only at Life.Church and Church Online," reads the announcement on the church's website.

Founded and led by Senior Pastor Craig Groeschel, Life.Church is a multisite worship community based in Oklahoma with locations in seven states.

The Christian Post reached out to Life.Church for more information about the new sermon series but a response was not available by press time.

The announcement about the upcoming sermon series comes days after Grooeschel preached four sermons on the topic of "Bad Advice."

"Behind every mess of harmful habits and rough relationships, we can look back and see where we got on the wrong track. Let's untangle our lives by learning how to avoid Bad Advice," explained Life.Church's site.

During one of the sermons in the series, Groeschel listed examples of bad advice that turn a Christian away from God, leading a believer to "spiritual death where you've got no joy, no passion, no life, no faith."

"There are many that don't even recognize how far we've drifted from the grace, the presence, and the goodness of God," said Groeschel.

Life.Church is not the only major church in the United States that will be holding a sermon series titled "At the Movies" during the summer.

Fellowship Church of Grapevine, Texas, led by Pastor Ed Young Jr., will also have a similarly themed and identically named series.

"It's one of society's most iconic venues: the silver screen. Every day millions of people flock to the movies for entertainment. Others go for education. But how often do we look to Hollywood for real life lessons?" explained Fellowship Church on their website.

"In this series, Ed Young will show us how the movies can actually reveal some of the most powerful truths that can change our lives — both now and forever. Don't miss this opportunity to discover the passion, purpose, and plan that God has in store for your life through some of today's biggest hits!"
