'More foreshadowing than fulfillment': Pastors react to US bombings of Iranian nuclear sites

Evangelist Greg Laurie, the founder of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Southern California, said he doesn’t believe the recent U.S. military strikes on Iranian nuclear sites are a direct fulfillment of biblical prophecy.
Instead, the pastor suggested in a video post on X that the events are more of a “foreshadowing” than fulfillment.
“Is this a fulfillment of Bible prophecy? I would say it’s maybe more of a foreshadowing than a fulfillment. Let me explain,” he said, adding that many believe the Bible speaks of a future attack involving an entity called Magog and another country known as Persia, the former name of Iran.
“So we know with certainty, regardless of who Magog is, we know Persia will one day march against Israel,” he said. “We see the alignment of Russia and Persia. We see the ongoing hostility between Iran and Israel. So it’s a cause for great prayer.”
Despite the political uncertainty, Laurie urged Christians to “pray for God’s protection around the United States of America and pray for God’s protection for Israel and pray that they find some kind of resolution soon and pray that God gives to our president wisdom as he makes these decisions that affect so many people.”
