Peyton Manning Ready for Return to Football?

Peyton Manning is confident in his return to the field for the Indianapolis Colts this season.

The 35-year-old quarterback was forced to have surgery on his neck after on-field injuries.

Manning underwent a Sept. 8 neck surgery, which was his third in under two years. The surgery is known as an anterior fusion, which involves cutting in the front of the neck and removing tissue between vertebrae, according to ABC News reports.

According to ESPN, doctors claim a recovery time of 2-3 months for a surgery like Manning’s. However, Manning said he is staying positive with his healing process and listening to his medical team.

"I think you have to have hope until the doctors rule you out," Manning said, according to ABC News. "We're having a lot of injuries so if they come to me and say they have to make a move, I won't fight them on that."

However, Manning maintained that his doctors have been taking X-rays about once per month to ensure that his healing process is taking place successfully.

“I’ve been cleared to come down there,’’ Manning said. “I’ll be down on the sidelines this week.’’

During the Colts’ game against Kansas City on Oct. 2, the QB was cleared to watch his team from the press box. However, he expressed that the feeling made him uncomfortable.

“I had a bad feeling being up there in the press box with you guys," Manning said, according to ESPN. "Warm-ups are actually probably scarier than the game, but I just had a bad vibe being up there."

Although he is frustrated with the process of his recovery, Manning said his health his improving, according to IndyStar.com

“I feel good,’’ Manning said. “I’m in good spirits, got a good attitude. I come over here every day trying to get a little better.”
