Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who Robertson endorsed in the 2016 presidential contest, stated on social media that Robertson loved Jesus and was "utterly fearless."

"One of my fondest memories was duck hunting with Phil — he was the best shot I ever met," Cruz wrote. "And, in 2016, he recorded this amazing commercial for me. Rest in peace, my friend."
