Presbyterian Women Students Form Virtual Bond Through Blogs

Female Presbyterian students can now be virtually united through a new ''blogging'' initiative by the National Network of Presbyterian College Women.

A community of Christians is referred to by scripture as a “body of Christ,” spiritually united by one faith in one Lord. Female Presbyterian students can now be virtually united through a new “blogging” initiative by the National Network of Presbyterian College Women.

The NNPCW recently announced the launch of its blog – a web log or online journal – that provides the latest news from the Network as well as new topics for discussion and spiritual reflection. The blogs feature daily offerings for spiritual reflection and social action as well as reports on the travels of the Network staff members.

Christian blogs gained momentum in recent years with new communities of Christian bloggers appearing in both professional and grass-roots settings. Through individual blogs, thousands of Christians have professed and shared their faith, and organizers of Internet Evangelism Day have dubbed blogging a “unique potential” tool for witnessing.

While the Presbyterian Network’s blog is not meant as a witnessing tool, it still allows Christian college women to connect on spiritual levels. According to Network’s website, one of the main purposes of the blog is to bring women together as they “seek to understand what it means to claim a Christian faith that empowers women.”

At that light, women are encouraged to discuss theological issues as well as topics concerning social justice.
