Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge to Visit the US on Dec. 7 to 9

As Kate Middleton continues to recover from severe morning sickness, she has recently taken on more engagements such as this week's Royal Variety Performance which she attended with Prince William. Now, the royal palace has issued an official statement saying that the Duchess of Cambridge is accompanying the Prince on a visit to the U.S. from Dec. 7 to 9. It was originally planned as a solo trip for Prince William, but as she is now feeling better, the Duchess will reportedly accompany her husband to support causes that are close to their hearts.

"Their Royal Highnesses will travel to New York for a programme of engagements which will also see the Duke visit Washington D.C. for a day, while the Duchess remains in New York," the official press release reads. The Courtier Blog reports that there will be 10 engagements in total spread over the three-day visit, with 4 solo for the Prince, 2 solo for the Duchess, and 4 joint engagements.

Monday, December 8:

The Prince will travel to Washington D.C. while the Duchess remains in NYC. The Prince will attend an anti-corruption conference at the World Bank to discuss a zero tolerance approach to the transportation across borders of illegal wildlife parts. Upon his return he will attend a reception organized by the Royal Foundation.

Meanwhile, the Duchess will be accompanied by The First Lady of New York City Chirlane McCray on a visit to a local child development center. Afterwards, she will attend a lunch hosted by the British Consul General in New York.

In the evening, the royals will be attending an NBA game to launch a new collaboration between United for Wildlife, the Royal Foundation, and the NBA.

Tuesday, December 9:

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit a youth organization, then the couple will attend an even celebrating the British talents in the creative industries based in New York. The final engagement will be at the University of St. Andrews 600th anniversary dinner at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Another important engagement not listed on the itinerary is a visit to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum which will give the royals an opportunity to pay their respects.
