'Ray Donovan' Season 3 Premiere Spoilers: Season Opens With A Major Character Death

The wait is finally over. Showtime's highly anticipated third season of "Ray Donovan" returns this Sunday and getting hints from spoiler reports, the show will open with a total shocker.

TV Guide reported that a significant character will be saying goodbye on the season premiere titled "The Kalamazoo." The publication went on to tease that this person will be someone close to the titular character (Liv Schreiber).

True to his nature, Ray won't be showing his pain over the loss. In fact, the site said further, he will be avoiding his family and all their attempts for consolation. It is speculated that Ray could be carrying "some extra guilt" in the dreadful situation.

Followers of the scripted program should also look forward to Mickey's (Jon Voight) "unexpected parental role" which, according to The Gazette, he is "surprisingly good at it." Mickey will also be involved in an interesting line of work.

New cast members are also coming to the show including Ian McShane and Katie Holmes. The wealthy father and daughter are often at odds with each other.

McShane's Andrew Finney, enlists Ray's help to recover his son, who was kidnapped under some suspicious circumstances. Holme's Paige, meanwhile, is described as a "tough, stylish, businesswoman" working with Ray.

The Gazette went on to tease about a mysterious man dressed like a priest. The character appears in the first two episodes of Season 3. It cannot be determined yet if he is really a priest although scenes hinted that he's after Bunchy (Dash Mihok).

Find out more when "Ray Donovan" premieres this Sunday, July 12, 9 p.m. on Showtime.
