'Riverdale' Season 2 Spoilers: Archie Displays Strange Behavior; Betty Tries to Save Pop's

The upcoming episode of "Riverdale" season 2 will see Archie (KJ Apa) behaving strangely, causing his friends to worry about him.

The synopsis of the next episode, titled "Nighthawks," states that Archie will start to act bizarrely, perhaps due to his father getting shot at the end of season 1. While his friends will be worried about him, they also have another problem to deal with: Pop's Diner may be closing for good.

Betty (Lili Reinhart) will take matters into her own hands to save Pop's. In order to do this, she will seek the help of Veronica (Camila Mendes), Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch), and Josie (Ashleigh Murray). Meanwhile, Veronica will also be torn between her parents, Hiram (Mark Consuelos) and Hermione (Marisol Nichols).

Elsewhere, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) will try to look for a new lawyer to represent FP (Skeet Ulrich), but his search may have grave consequences.

A teaser trailer for the new episode has also been released. It sees Archie being tormented by thoughts that the man who gunned down his father is still out there somewhere. He sees the gunman outside Pop's, though it remains to be seen whether this is just a figment of his imagination. The clip also briefly glimpses Josie and the Pussycats performing at Pop's, presumably to help save the diner.

The previous episode, titled "A Kiss Before Dying," concluded with the shocking death of Miss Grundy (Sarah Habel). And while there is some mystery surrounding this, showrunner Robert Aguirre-Sacasa assures that "Riverdale" knows its limits.

"That cliffhanger hopefully is indicative of what is to come," he told Variety. "It'll never become a slasher movie. It'll never become a gore-fest, but there's definitely sudden acts of shocking violence. It's about our characters living with that constant threat and fear."

He also teased the effect of Hiram's arrival at Riverdale, saying that his intentions are still unknown at this point.

"He definitely has a secret agenda that nobody knows, except maybe [his wife] Hermione. Definitely his return will affect Veronica the most," he said.

"Riverdale" season 2 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
