Russell Brand to Star in 'Lamb of God' Film

Controversial English actor Russell Brand has been recruited to star in the new film “Lamb of God,” according to Twitchfilm.

“Lamb of God” is a comedy that follows a “young conservative religious woman who loses her faith after a plane crash. Headed to Las Vegas to live the life of a sinner, her journey brings her full circle back to faith.”

Brand is expected to play the male-lead, William, a hedonist the protagonist meets in Las Vegas. The female lead has not been casted yet. However, there is speculation that Julianne Hough, Dancing With the Stars contestant, is being sought after for the role.

The film is Diablo Cody’s directorial debut. Cody is most well-known for writing the screenplay to Juno, the 2007 award-winning film starring Ellen Page.

Brand’s latest film, “Arthur,” was an absolute tank at the box office. He will be seen in next summer’s “Rock of Ages” with Hough.

The actor had developed a reputation in the media for being quite the ladies’ man. However, in October 2010 Brand married pop singer Katy Perry.

He is widely known for his drug addiction and controversial political comments. For example, he was fired from his job as a video journalist at MTV for coming to work dressed as Osama Bin Laden the day after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The film is slated to be release at the end of next year.
