Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Date News: Review of Specs, Features and Other Rumors for New Android Phone

Though Apple succeeded in creating a big buzz with the release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus last month, not everyone is ready to jump on the bandwagon, and some Android faithful users are waiting what will come next from Samsung; enter the Samsung Galaxy S6.

After the rumors of the iPhone 6 Plus being not as sturdy as some would like, with reports of the phone bending in some people's pockets, some Android lovers are looking for a sturdier phone that can withstand regular wear and tear, that has a large screen, and looks good at the same time.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is touted to have all of these features and is reported to give the new iPhone 6's a run for their money. A few rumors have already come up regarding the phone and what can be expected of it.

So far, the biggest rumor is that the S6 will be the first mainstream 4K device and that its screen will have a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160, which is considered in the industry as a 4K standard. Another rumor is that the Galaxy S6 will supposedly have a fully-curved screen.

The smartphone will likely be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808, or Snapdragon 810 and will run on the new Android 5. It is also expected to come with 16, 32 or 128 GB of internal memory but can be expanded through a microSD card, unlike the iPhone.

The main camera is rumored to be a 16 megapixel one, but it is also possible for Samsung to install a 20-megapixel camera for the S6, according to some rumors floating around out there.

As for the release date, Valuewalk reports that Samsung might feel the need to respond to the unveiling of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus as soon as possible.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is rumored to be released at the Mobile World Congress taking place on March 2 to 5, 2015, however, some believe that Samsung may look to get an earlier release date to counter the new iPhones, depending on how well the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 fares when it is released later in October 2014.
