Samsung Galaxy Tab A Release Date: US Launch Scheduled on May 1 (VIDEO)

Samsung has announced it will be releasing its new Galaxy Tab A tablet on May 1 especially for U.S. markets.

Korean electronics manufacturer, Samsung is making available their latest device, the Galaxy Tab A tablet for U.S. markets, starting May 1.

Marketed as a family device, the tablet will be equipped with a Multi-User Mode and a Kids Mode.

Customers will have access to two sizes of the device: 8-inch and a 9.7-inch variants. Both sizes feature entry level specs, and are sized at 7.4mm thick with slimmer bezels. Both also come with a 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm processor, 64 bit Snapdragon 410, 1024 x 768-pixel display, a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front facing camera.

The 8-inch tablet model is powered by a 4200 mAh battery, while the 9.7 model has a larger 6000 maH battery.

The Galaxy Tab A runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop, comes with 1.5GB of RAM, a choice of 16GB or 32GB expandable storage, and up to 128GB microSD card support. The tablets are bundled with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint in the box, and up to 100GB OneDrive cloud storage for up to two years

While the tablet doesn't offer 3G or 4G, it will still feature Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities. It comes in two variants of Ivory White and Smokey Blue.

Samsung has been accepting preorders for the Galaxy Tab A since last week, with the 8-inch model priced at $229.99, and the 9.7-inch model selling for $299.99. The tablet will be available for purchase at Amazon, Best Buy and HH Gregg starting May 1.

It was recently announced the Galaxy Tab A will also be releasing a special third model with an S Pen, available in Smokey Titanium that is scheduled for a later launch in May 17, and will retail for $349.99.
