Samsung Nexus Prime Release Date: Smartphone Slated for November Release

A Japanese carrier has confirmed that the latest Samsung and Google smartphone, the Samsung Nexus Prime, also known as the Galaxy Nexus is scheduled for a November release.

NTT DoCoMo announced on Twitter today that it would be one of the first carriers to release the smartphone in November.

The Nexus Prime is scheduled to be Oct. 19 at the “Samsung Mobile Unpacked: Google Episode” media event in Hong Kong.

Due to the time difference, the event will take place tonight at 9:30 p.m. ET, and will stream live from the Android Youtube channel.

Verizon Wireless will be the exclusive U.S. carrier of the Nexus Prime upon its release.

Leaks of Verizon’s inventory have detailed that the smartphone could also be released in the U.S. sometime in November.

One leak lists its advertising period from Nov. 10, 2011 to June 10, 2012.

This has lead commentators to believe that the Nexus Prime can be expected to release any time after Nov. 10.

BGR has detailed that the Nexus Prime is expected to have various specs as a 4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD display, a TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, support for NFC and a 5-megapixel camera capable of recording 1080p HD video.

The other Verizon leak has also revealed that mobile web, Bluetooth, voice activation, voice memo and 4G capability, among other specs, may be featured on the Nexus Prime.

The conflicting reports have left commentators in the dark about what the next Samsung and Google smartphone will be called.

However, they suggest that Nexus Prime is a codename developers have used for the phone in order to conceal Galaxy Nexus as its true name.

Nexus Prime is expected to be the first smartphone powered by the latest Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich, which will also be unveiled at “Samsung Mobile Unpacked.”
