Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet Ultra Release Date News: Rumored Specs Revealed

Less than 24 hours after rumored specs for Sony's Xperia Z4 were leaked, it appears as though the company is about to enter the big screen tablet arena as new information about Sony's new tablet was revealed by reports.

Sony is planning to unveil a 12.9-inch tablet, which is the Xperia Z4 Tablet Ultra, according to Chinese news site Padnews. The monster Triluminos display will reportedly have a resolution of 3840 x 2400, which is accepted as a 4K resolution, more than what is commonly used in a tablet.

Under the hood, the device is said to have a 2.86GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor which will be accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of built in storage. The site lists only one 8 megapixel camera, and it is unclear whether this will be positioned at the front or back of the device.

The report also promises a HDMI 1.4 input for 4K video camera recording at up to 30 frames per second, PS4 Remote Play and a 12100mAh battery. Padnews also posted a leaked image and claims that the tablet will be just 8.6mm thick.

If there's any truth to the leak, it's possible that the Sony Z4 Tablet Ultra could be announced at the MWC 2015 show in February 2015.

It is expected that Sony's Z4 range will make its first public showing in Barcelona. There are also reports that Sony has an event planned for early January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, but the Padnews report says that it is unsure if the Z4 tablet Ultra will be revealed at the event, which will take place from Jan. 6 to 9.
