Sprint iPhone 5 Will Offer Unlimited Data Plan

Sprint will offer Apple’s iPhone 5 with an unlimited data plan starting next month, according to Bloomberg.

Sprint is offering unlimited data to iPhone users with the intention of competing with AT&T and Verizon who do not offer unlimited data service for a flat fee.

The service provider is reported to begin selling the next generation iPhone next month under a deal with Apple.

Sprint hopes to draw customers away from AT&T and Verizon with the new plan along with using the iPhone to catapult itself to the frontlines of the network service provider war.

The company has been struggling to compete with its larger rivals and cites not carrying the iPhone previously as hurting its chances in staying relevant in the market.

Just last month the news of the iPhone coming to Sprint excited customers who will now not only have the chance to purchase an iPhone, but have an unlimited data plan to go with it.

“It’s a competitive disadvantage if your two larger competitors have the iPhone and you don’t,” said Matthew Thornton, an analyst at Avian Securities in an interview. “Getting the iPhone closes that gap.”

Neither Apple nor Sprint have officially confirmed any of these iPhone reports, but industry insiders seem to be sure about the recent news regarding the popular device coming to Sprint.

Sprint currently offers unlimited data plans for Android phones along with Blackberrys.

Its unlimited voice and data service costs $99.99 a month.

AT&T offers an unlimited voice plan which includes 200 megabytes of data for $15 a month, 2 gigabytes of data for $25 a month, or 4 gigabytes of data for $45 a month.

Verizon’s data plans for the iPhone start at $30 a month for 2 gigabytes and rise to $80 for 10 gigabytes, in addition to its $69.99 unlimited voice service.
