'Star Wars' Sequel News, Rumors: Next Star Wars Anthology Film Could Feature Han Solo and Boba Fett

While fans are counting the months and days until J.J. Abram's upcoming big screen offering, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," premieres this year, it was found out that Lucasfilm and Disney were currently hard at work in developing new "anthologies" of the epic space saga.

It was reported that in between the "Episodes" will be the so-called "anthology films" – standalone movies slated to bring new tales from the vast Star Wars Universe. The first of which would be Gareth Edwards' "Star Wars: Rogue One" which is scheduled to hit the theaters in 2016.

"Fantastic Four" helmer Josh Trank was reported to take on the next title. However, it was found out recently that he "exited" the project.

Earlier rumors pointed out that the plot for the said movie will put the spotlight on Boba Fett and his origin story. Now, it has been found out that he will be joined by none other than someone from the original trilogy fan-favorite character.

Schmoes Know said that Han Solo "will be making an appearance in the second anthology movie." The film, according to the site, is thought to take place between the events of "Revenge of the Sith" and "A New Hope."

As the nature of the characters suggest, this upcoming standalone film will delve on the "conflict between the bounty hunter and smuggler," an aspect which was hinted in the earlier films but never expounded.

Classic characters are also set to join the Solo and Fett. Schmoes said that Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, and Bossk could "make appearances throughout."

For the meantime, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is scheduled to hit US cinemas this Dec. 18, 2015.
