According to KALB 5, Cynthia Peak was a beloved substitute teacher who leaves behind a grieving widower, a daughter and two sons.

Peak’s father had been a local doctor in Leesville where he owned a physician's clinic. A 1979 graduate of Captain Shreve High School, she went to college and later graduated from TCU in 1983.

Her family resided in Alabama before recently moving back to Tennessee.
