'The Fosters' Season 5B Spoilers: Jude's Biological Father to Return

While "The Fosters" season 5 is currently in hiatus and is not expected to return earlier than next year, fans can already expect that the upcoming second half of its season 5 will feature Jude's (Hayden Byerly) biological father, Donald (Jamie McShane), to return.

Spoiler reports claim that Jude will be absorbed by his passion for online gaming and will enjoy the recognition from other players, both young and old, when "The Fosters" return for the second half of its fifth season. However, his preoccupation with online gaming will also cause some problems within the family.

"Jude will continue to explore this online gaming world and what it means to get some recognition at a very young age... And perhaps it's too much pressure on these young, impressionable minds. Kids that need time to grow and breathe and play and live in a world where their youth and innocence should be nurtured and not constantly critiqued or awarded with chase and gifts," teased  "The Fosters" executive producer Bradley Bredeweg in an earlier interview.

Apart from revealing that Jude will continue to be absorbed in online gaming, Bredeweg also teased that there is a possibility for Jude's biological father, Donald, to return in the series. While it is unclear what will bring Donald back into the life of Jude, it is suspected that the two may finally be able to talk about things they considered taboo in the past.

Meanwhile, the upcoming season 5B of "The Fosters" is also expected to feature Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) finding love again. After all, according to another "The Fosters" executive producer, Joanna Johnson, the character has been without a boyfriend for 18 episodes already.

While Johnson did not tease who Mariana's new love interest will be, some can't help but suspect that she will be rekindling a past flame as the mid-season 5 finale featured her dancing with her ex-boyfriend Mat (Jordan Rodrigues) at the prom. However, as Johnson also revealed in her interview with that Nick (Louis Hunter), another ex-flame of Mariana, is returning in the second half of "The Fosters" season 5, could Mariana be torn between her two exes when the series returns?

Fans can only speculate for now.

"The Fosters" is expected to return to Freeform for its season 5B early 2018.
