'The Last Ship' Season 2 News, Spoilers: Rachel Gets Hold of A Secret Formula From Her Deceased Mentor

Things are definitely getting more intense as the sophomore season of the hit post-apocalyptic TV drama series from TNT, "The Last Ship," sails on this weekend with an episode that will see Chandler (Eric Dane) trying his best to avenge the destruction made by the immunes. Meanwhile, Dr. Scott (Rhona Mitra) gets an opportunity to make a new cure.

A synopsis provided by the network said that in "Long Day's Journey," Captain Chandler and his team will follow the trail of the immunes to Northern Florida. Venturing further into the area, Tom will stumble upon a compound that is under control of Sean (Brian O'Byrne) and Ned (Nick Court).

"The Captain quickly realizes the Ramseys are not just leading the sub – they're controlling Immune populations on land, making them a more terrifying foe than initially thought," the summary reads.

There is speculation that the show's finale could have the Ramseys getting into the side of Chandler, although this might not be an easy thing to accomplish for the Commanding Officer of the USS Nathan James.

Meanwhile, Rachel will come across a secret formula that her mentor, Dr. Hunter, had been working on before he was murdered by the Immunes.

The synopsis indicates that although the formula holds the promise of mass producing and distributing the cure, it is however, incomplete in its present stage.

It remains to be seen how the paleomicrobiologist can manage to establish the experiment and get it into functioning so that they can now start saving lives.

"The Last Ship" Season 2 airs Sundays, at 9 p.m. on TNT.
