The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Uses Wii U GamePad for Unique Experience

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Two Worlds for the Wii U will change the standard formula of the Zelda games, the developers say.

Eiji Aonuma, producer of the game, told 4Gamer that he wants to change up things in the game and said he was tired of the same formula.

"When I say I'm tired, I'm not talking about making Zelda, but rather, the same constituent that has been used to make Zelda up until now," Aonuma responded, after being questioned about what he meant by being tired. "While on the subject, in regard to how we've always done things the traditional way until now: 'Why does it have to be traditional?' That's the question I've been asking myself. If we don't change that, we can't make something new."

This next series, out on the 3DS and Wii U, will adopt the new vision for the franchise, reports Digital Spy.

"We're slightly approaching The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds with that mindset, and also the next Zelda title, which we intend to continue changing," he continued. "However, this brings us to the topic, 'Exactly what is The Legend of Zelda about?' Something that is 'traditional' is in a sense often something that copies previous works, so if you continue doing that, it gradually takes away from its uniqueness."

He also said that the game will be taking full advantage of the GamePad.

"Travelling while having the map displayed on the Wii U GamePad made it really comfortable [to play], and I believe this can also be done for other areas besides the ocean. Parts that I felt were fun while playing [The Wind Waker HD] will assuredly have an influence on the next title, without a doubt," he added.

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, a remake of the Gamecube classic, will release tomorrow.

The game looks sort of like a cartoon or comic book because of the cel-shaded graphics. Many people wrote the game off because of this, but critics rated it as a genuinely classic and great game.

Mechanically there were a few flaws throughout the game, but the new updated version corrects virtually everything and makes this game even better than the original version.

Visually the already stunning game now has beefed up colors, lighting, and shading.

Wind Waker is also playable on the Gamepad alone, although the TV version with the gamepad is best because the controller acts as the map and menu instead of pausing the game to sort through different options.
