'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Premiere Date, Plot Spoilers: Will Bonnie and Damon Be Saved When Series Returns October 2014

"The Vampire Diaries," an American supernatural drama television series on The CW channel, will be premiering its sixth season on Oct. 2.

The series was renewed by The CW for a sixth season on Feb. 13 earlier this year, months before the season 5 finale aired on television.

The first episode for the sixth season is titled "I'll Remember" and will continue from where the season 5 finale left off: the deaths of Damon and Bonnie. Their deaths followed a dangerous plan to destroy the Travelers and their leader Markos.

Although they managed to kill Markos and a majority of his men in a fiery explosion, things didn't exactly work out as planned. Damon and Bonnie were caught in the explosion and were killed, and to make matters worse, the spell that banned magic from the town did not break. This wouldn't allow Bonnie and Damon to return to the realm of the living, even with Liv casting the resurrection spell.

Season six will then open a few months after the tragic deaths of Bonnie and Damon. Mystic Falls has become a sort of home for a new community watch program with the goal to protect the town from returning supernatural beings.

The crew of this new watch program will have to find a way to get through the difficulties of their grief and group together to get back to their homes and salvage whatever is left from their former lives.

As for the fates of Bonnie and Damon, it is still a mystery on whether or not they can be saved.
