'The Voice' Won't Have Jennifer Hudson in Season 14; Are Ratings Falling?

Jennifer Hudson joined as coach on "The Voice" season 13 for the first time. The "Dreamgirls" star, however, won't likely be back for season 14 amid rumors that she's not well-liked on the show and the ratings are falling.

Hudson's addition in the panel of "The Voice" season 13 divides fans who share their sentiments about the singer on social media. Some say she brings a different energy to the show but other viewers find her coaching annoying.

"I'm just tired of hearing her talk about herself! It's not about her," a viewer on Facebook wrote.

"I'm yet to understand why people are being so negative about Jennifer. She is not being mean, degrading, arrogant, or impolite to any of the other judges or contestants," another viewer said.

Some viewers also blame Hudson for the drop in ratings when "The Voice" season 13 begun last September. The premiere episode earned 10.4 million viewers and it's slightly lower compared to the premiere episode of "The Voice" season 12 with 13.03 million viewers last April. Observers implied that viewers liked last season's female coaches, Gwen Stefani and Alicia Keys, better than the current season with Hudson and Miley Cyrus.

Hudson's return on "The Voice" season 14, however, might not happen for a different reason other than the perceived complaints from viewers and the falling ratings. According to Telly Mix, Hudson will be coaching "The Voice UK" again in January 2018, so she will not be in America by the time "The Voice" season 14 runs.

No one from Hudson's camp confirmed if she's signed on for the new season of the U.K. series. The singer, who won in the British version last time, expressed in April that she will return if asked.

"It's so fun to me. I feel like it's almost like a hobby," Hudson remarked. "I love it that much it doesn't feel like work."

"The Voice" season 13 airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. EST on NBC.
