1. 'You're killing millions of people!': Protester disrupts opening statement

The hearing opened with a protester disrupting Kennedy's opening statement and being escorted out in her wheelchair as she loudly miscalled him a senator and accused him of mass murder.

"I apologize to you for that outburst, Secretary Kennedy," said Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, who chairs the committee. "I would notify everyone else in the audience: comments from the audience are inappropriate."

"If there are any further disruptions, the committee will recess until the police can restore order," he added before Kennedy continued.
