Sen. John Kennedy, other Republicans: 'A wise man once said nothing'
Other GOP politicians hit at Trump for his statement, with Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., saying the president should have stayed silent.
"A wise man once said nothing. Why? Because he's a wise man. I think President Trump should have said nothing," Kennedy, who is known for his pithy aphorisms, told CNN in the halls of Capitol Hill on Monday.

Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., called the statement "wrong," stressing that no one should face violence regardless of politics and that it should engender sympathy.
Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., deemed it unpresidential and something one would hear "from a drunk guy at a bar."
