'Transparent' Season 2 Spoilers: Jeffrey Tambor Says Maura Won't Be the Focus in Season 2
The next season of Amazon's critically-acclaimed drama series, "Transparent," will explore deeper on the aspect of personal changes and the journey of a man becoming a woman and the effects it has on his relationships.
Golden Globe winner for Best Actor in a Television Series award Jeffrey Tambor said on Monday's Television Critics Association summer press tour event in California, that his character Maura and her family won't be the only focus on Season 2 of the show.
"Maura is not the central figure [in season 2], but the gateway now from so many stories evolving from this decision to be authentic," the actor told Entertainment Weekly. "'Will you still love me if I change' — that's where we're throwing down in a wonderful way. It's becoming more than just a story about transitioning, about people seeking their freedom, all of us."
Tambor further teased about that one scene for the upcoming season that really impressed him.
"We did a scene the other day, and we all said it, 'This is as good as it gets.' I remember [going home and thinking], 'That's all I ever wanted to do as an actor is the scene we just did,'" he said.
Other members of the cast who are present in this week's event also revealed bits and pieces of their respective characters.
Jay Duplass said that Josh will go to a "very dark place" this time.
"He's a bit of a whipping boy in season 2, he has a long long way to go, and I'm enjoying getting the crap beat out of me," the actor teased.
Amy Landecker meanwhile teased that Season 2 will see her Sarah going through a "year of revelation and consequences."
Furthermore, it was announced in the press tour that "Transparent" Season 2 will debut on Dec. 4 and fans should watch out for a yet to be unveiled teaser trailer.
