'True Detective' News: Taylor Kitsch Confirms He's in Season 2

After several weeks of speculation regarding the cast of "True Detective" season 2, Taylor Kitsch himself confirmed that he will be starring in HBO's critically acclaimed series in its upcoming season.

Though HBO has not officially announced that Kitsch will be joining the cast of "True Detective," the actor broke the news in an interview with Adweek.

"Yeah, I'm really excited," said Kitsch to Adweek. "I've just been prepping. It's been almost a full year since I've been on camera, so I'm itching, man. I'm overdue. You've just got to grind it out. Even taking this year off was, I mean you want to work, but you also don't want to water it down and work for the sake of working. So, it was a tough to sit a year out, keeping a finger crossed that I was going to get 'True [Detective].'"

Kitsch was last seen on "Friday Night Lights" and in the 2012 movies "Battleship" and "John Carter." The actor also explained that one of the reasons why he decided to lay low for a year involved his determination to land a role on "True Detective."

"It was just showing a lot of patience on my end and turning a lot of stuff down because I wanted to be part of it," said Kitsch. "And having a meeting with Nic Pizzolatto, it kind of brought me back to why I was here in New York and why I wanted to be an actor, why you struggle and why you don't quit."

Kitsch joins previously announced stars Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn on the show, while Rachel McAdams is reportedly being considered for the female lead, according to Screenrant.

"True Detective" season 2 is expected to premiere in summer of 2015.
