'True Detective' Season 2 News: HBO Released Promo Trailer Featuring Vaughn, Farrell, McAdams, and Kitsch
It's finally here: the first look of the highly anticipated second instalment of HBO's acclaimed crime TV drama series "True Detective" was released this week.
Although short, the 60-minute promo video was enough to whet the appetite of fans with the show's dark, tense and gritty theme.
"Sometimes your worst self is your best self," says actor Vince Vaughn, who plays the character of a crime boss named Frank Semyon in the opening of the preview.
The snippet also featured, in all their seriousness, major cast members Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch playing as the three police officers Ray Velcro, Ani Bezzerides and Paul Woodrugh, in respective order.
A synopsis for Season 2 was previously released by HBO in their website which reads:
"A bizarre murder brings together three law enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California."
As stated, the setting now moves from the rural Louisiana location to a highly-urbanized cityscape of LA County.
It was meanwhile found out that the first two episodes of the forthcoming chapter are helmed by "Fast and Furious" (6 & 7) director, Justin Lin. All eight episodes were written by series creator Nic Pizzolatto. Majority of the scenes were also filmed on location in Los Angeles.
Actors Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson meanwhile starred in the first season of the said show.
"True Detective" Season 2 kicks off with its premiere episode this Sunday, June 21 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
