NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Music City has become the epicenter of global Christian communication this week, with the opening of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB 2026) convention, the largest Christian media event worldwide.

With an attendance of more than 6,000 people, the event began Tuesday night by reaffirming the communicators' commitment to the Great Commission and the defense of religious freedoms.

The opening session was prayerfully led by John Ankerberg, who urged those present to seek an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon every convention activity. Ankerberg recalled that the central objective of NRB is to take the Gospel to all nations, mentioning that there are still 1,000 million people without access to the Bible in their own language.

Political support and the defense of the faith

One of the moments of great impact for attendees was the screening of a video message by President Donald Trump. In his speech, Trump thanked the NRB and Christian communicators for being a voice that inspires millions.

"Under this administration, we are once again defending their rights and restoring our historic identity as a nation under God," Trump said.

The president highlighted actions of his administration, such as the elimination of the Johnson Amendment and the fight against anti-Christian bias, assuring that his administration fights against ideologies that seek to destroy Judeo-Christian civilization.

Civic and spiritual engagement initiatives

Bonnie Pounds, founder of Christians Engaged, presented an encouraging report on the mobilization of the Christian vote. She reported that her organization has grown from 32,000 to more than a million Christians committed to praying, voting and getting involved in the public sphere.

For 2026, Pounds announced the launch of "Christians Engaged en Español," an initiative in collaboration with the Rev. Samuel Rodriguez and the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC), specifically designed to reach the Hispanic community in the U.S.

In addition, two key NRB initiatives were presented:

  • America Reads the Bible: An event scheduled for April in Washington, D.C., where national leaders will read the Bible from cover to cover for seven days.
  • Veterans Ministry Initiative: An effort to equip local churches in supporting veterans facing mental health crises and loneliness.

A close of deep worship

The most spiritual moment of the night came with the participation of the renowned singer Michael W. Smith, who led the thousands of attendees in a time of praise and adoration that transformed the auditorium into a space of unity and gratitude to God.

Performing hymns that have marked generations, the artist facilitated an atmosphere of reflection that prepared hearts for the remaining days of conferences and workshops.

NRB 2026 will continue throughout the week, addressing the technological challenges of artificial intelligence and the future of Christian radio and television, always with an eye on the proclamation of the message of hope.
