Trump-Musk backed candidate loses, voter ID wins: 5 highlights from Wis., Fla. election results
3. Voter ID wins big
While progressives saw their preferred candidates win their respective races, a separate development in Wisconsin pleased conservatives.
Unofficial results from Decision Desk HQ show that voters overwhelmingly backed Question 1, which will require voters to show photo identification. Question 1 received the support of nearly 63% of Wisconsin voters, while just over 37% opposed it.
Although technically a nonpartisan issue, the partisan divide that has come to define every aspect of American politics emerged in the debate about Question 1. The League of Women Voters in Wisconsin urged its supporters to reject the ballot measure because they claimed it would “disenfranchises eligible voters.” Conversely, in his Truth Social post weighing in on the Wisconsin election, Trump urged his supporters to vote in favor of Question 1, which he described as “a very important Referendum.”
